Amazon finally made public the successor of its hugely popular Kindle Fire Tablet in the recent weeks. The release is well-timed with the upcoming holiday season and with the superior hardware, software and UI it is expected to rule over the tablet market soon after its release. Is the Android tablet good enough for its price and how it ranks up with its predecessor is the question we will ponder upon.
Hardware:
The slimmer and lighter Amazon Kindle Fire HD 7 offers a promising 7inch IPS display having the resolution of 1,280×800 pixels. It is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core TI OMAP4460 processor with 1GB of Ram. Both screen and processor provide high quality performance even for watching 720p movies on the tablet. With the twin stereo speakers at the rear, this unit takes sound quality to a new level.
In comparison to its older version, other upgrades include the addition of a Micro HDMI output to connect media to television screen which is a very useful input to the new edition.
The latest Kindle version completely relies on Touch screen functionality except for physical power and volume buttons. All the rest works with an impressively responsive touch. At first, the tab greets the users with advertisements on standby mode, which can be removed for just $15.
The battery life lasts for 10 hours of continuous use and is chargeable via Micro USB cable. With a front facing camera and a solid dual Wi-Fi access, this tablet is surely beating everything ever offered in the market.
Software:
The device runs on Google Android OS with 4.0 providing access to a variety of apps and options. One of the best advances is the entire change in user interface which allows a quicker access to the latest activities done. The top navigation bar has most of the options to access Amazon’s important features and these options have also doubled in amount, compared to its predecessor.
New features like X-Ray have been added to uncover details of books or movies and Whispersync to restart the videos or books from where they were left, features that are highly appreciable for their ease.
Amazon has changed its entire ecosystem to a better intuitive version but does not restrict users to load their own apps or options onto the device.
Reading Experience:
The latest Kindle Fire has added some interesting features to the reading experience on this portable 7 inch tablet. Immersion Reading is quite innovative as it allows a Kindle text to sync with audio version of the work allowing users to read and listen to the text at the same time. Other features include Whispersync for voice, X-Ray, excellent PDF reading and lots of customization options.
Amazon Kindle Fire HD is way ahead in the game of tablets under $200. With superb hardware and software features, Amazon has played havoc on the rest of the competing tablets in the market. The combination of striking innovative features, excellent audio and text options, brilliant processing abilities, surely rank the Kindle Fire HD at the top on the 7 inch tablet world.
