A few leaked photos of the upcoming Kindle Paperwhite ebook reader were recently posted by The Verge. If these photos are original and the information posted is correct than it can be predicted that a tremendous change will be hitting the ebook reader market very soon.
The latest Kindle seems very similar to the Kindle Touch in looks and design. But the home button which was present just below the screen in on Kindle Touch is missing and the bezel is designed with a black color instead of the grey on Kindle Touch.
The new screen is the turning point of this reader. With the little information we have, it seems that it has an improved light contrast and a better screen resolution. Not only are these features sparking, but the screen has integrated lighting and eight weeks of battery life, with the full use of the light.
The reference to Paperwhite is the most intriguing question. Whether it is a new type of screen or just a word used for marketing strategy, we know nothing.
The Verge uses Paperwhite combined with “Backlit display”, meaning that the new Kindle Paperwhite does not employ E-ink technology as Amazon did in all the previous Kindle lines. This is because E-Ink and Backlight can’t work together. E-Ink works with a front light instead of the back light, as incorporated in Barnes and Noble’s Nook Touch with GlowLight.
We can assume that the new Kindle uses a Front light technology instead of the backlight because E-Ink doesn’t have any competition in the screen market, so we presume Amazon could not have gotten backlight technology. The photos leaked on the website simply show black and white pictures of the screen of the new Kindle, which means that no alternative color display is embedded in the upcoming Amazon release.
Whatever the screen type may be, the new Kindle is surely going to incorporate some amazing upgrades. Amazon is expected to uncover its new line of Kindle ebook readers and tablets, so stay tuned for some intriguing news.
The company sent out invites to a press conference on September 6th. Details about the conference were not unveiled in the invite, but it can be expected that Amazon is going to launch its new line of Kindle and ebook readers, given that rumors about a launch of the Kindle Fire 2 and a new Kindle reader with a lighted screen have been floating since the beginning of this year. Details on any of these rumors have not been made public by any credible source, so we can only wait and see. It is expected that Amazon will launch a Kindle Touch with Glowscreen, a Kindle Fire 2 and a 10 inch Kindle Tablet in the press conference to be held on September 6, 2012.
The wait will be over soon. Let us see whether the new screen will bring a revolution or it is just a hyped marketing technique.
